- The Stone: Green jasper in deep olive tones, speckled with darker spots that give each bead the look of aged moss or weathered stone. The color is earthy, muted, and warm. No two beads are exactly identical.
- History: When ancient writers mentioned jasper, they almost always meant a green stone. Pliny the Elder, writing in the first century AD, described jasper as green. The Hebrew word in the Book of Exodus refers to the jasper set into the Breastplate of Aaron, the sacred garment used to communicate with God. Scholars believe this was green jasper. In the Book of Revelation, jasper appears again as one of the foundation stones of the New Jerusalem. The ancient Greeks called green jasper the rain bringer and carried it as a charm to ensure rainfall for their crops. The Romans dedicated it to the goddess of fertility and protection, and used it alongside herbal remedies for healing.
- The Belief: In modern crystal practice, green jasper is a heart chakra stone, said to strengthen balance, healing, and emotional stability. It is sometimes called the supreme nurturer for its reputation in absorbing stress and restoring calm.
