The hardest thing on earth, and older than almost anything you will ever touch.

This is real diamond, the same stone set into rings, in a form almost no one gets to see: opaque, deep reddish brown, and faceted into small beads rather than cut into a single clear gem. A jeweller’s diamond is chosen for how much light passes through it. This is chosen for the opposite, for the dense natural colour of a diamond that was never meant to be seen through. Each bead is faceted enough to catch the light, and no two are alike. Diamond is the hardest natural substance there is, so nothing in daily life can mark these. They will look the same in fifty years as the day they were strung. 

History

Diamond is the oldest thing a man can put on his wrist. These stones formed deep in the earth more than a billion years ago and were carried up by ancient volcanic eruptions long before there was anyone to find them. The Greeks named the stone adamas, meaning unconquerable, because nothing they owned could scratch or break it, and for most of history that hardness counted for more than shine. Diamond was the one thing hard enough to cut and engrave every other stone. It was the tool that shaped the treasures of the ancient world long before it became a treasure itself.

The Belief

Diamond has always stood for the things that do not break. To the old world it was the stone of invincibility and endurance, carried as a sign that its owner could not be worn down, and those who work with stones today read it much the same way, as a stone of strength, clarity, and permanence. Shown dark and opaque rather than clear and brilliant, it makes the point more quietly. And it makes them way more beautiful and unique in our opinion.
